Top your steaks with this amazing red wine mushroom sauce! It's so good and lends so much flavor to your meats. We paired our red wine mushroom sauce with filet mignon and it was a huge hit our entire family.
I've teamed up with The Tender Filet for this recipe.
You may remember that I had the opportunity to review some fine steaks and burgers from The Tender Filetlast Spring. I had such a great experience with them, that I couldn't turn down the chance to work with them again this holiday season. They have such a fantastic selection of meats, sides, desserts, and cooking essentials, and I knew having theirFilet Mignon and Center Cut New York Strip Steaks on hand would be perfect for our holiday meals.
The Tender Filet generously sent me theirFilets Mignons and Center Cut New York Strips Combo for review and I couldn't wait to grill up a few Filets for dinner. Iwanted to make dinner a bit more special though, so I planned to create a Red Wine Mushroom Sauce to accompany the meal. I knew my husband would absolutely love it.
When you receive your items from The Tender Filet, they'll beexpertly packaged in a heavy duty styrofoam cooler that's packed with dry ice. You'll also get a copy of the "Guide to Great Cooking". Within this booklet is everything you'll need to know about cooking your different cuts of meat, and there's even a variety of recipes to complement your meal. I looked through the booklet and found a recipe for Filet Mignon with Mushroom Wine Sauce and I knew that would be perfect to help me gather ingredients. I did end up putting my own spin on it though.
Red Wine Mushroom Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
I cup of red wine (a good wine that you'd actually want to drink)
8 ounces+ of mushrooms (I used Baby Bellas, but sh*take mushrooms would also be fabulous)
I shallot (about ½ cup finely chopped)
3 cloves of garlic
1 can (10.5 ounces) of beef broth
2 tablespoons of butter (divided)
1 tsp dried thyme
Filet Mignon steaks (2 (6) ounce steaks)
Directions:
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the shallot, garlic, and mushrooms and saute until they're softened (about 4-5 minutes). Add in your wine and beef broth. Increase your heat if needed until you're at a small boil/simmer. Let simmer for about 5 minutes while the liquid reduces. If your liquid is too thin you could add some corn starch, or just let it simmer a bit longer to reduce. Add in the remaining tablespoon of butter at the last minute to increase the richness.
You can then remove your sauce from the skillet (and wipe out with a paper towel), and cook your steaks on the stove with a bit of olive oil or butter, or you can grill them. We choose to grill them and they turned out perfectly.
Add your Red Wine Mushroom Sauce to the top of your steaks, serve, and enjoy!
The steaks were perfect and we had a fantastic meal thanks to The Tender Filet. We plan on preparing the rest of our steaks for our holiday celebrations. My husband has to work on most holidays, so rather than create a huge meal with turkeys and hams just for the three of us, we'll indulge in wonderful steaks from The Tender Filet.
