At the end of the day, it's your baby, not theirs. Set some boundaries and speak your mind. You can do it in a respectful way.

One thing to keep in mind is thst everything we do (eg. how we parent, the foods we eat, our family traditions, etc) is influenced by our own cultural backgrounds. We often think of what we will explicitly teach, but our children are exposed to our culture just by being with us and living life the way we set it up for them.

They will only have a stronger influence on him if you allow it. You need surround him with your culture. Heck you can even teach him about Afro Latinos as they have a long history in Latin America as well so that he has a broader understanding of Latin culture and how Africans have influenced that culture as well. Mother's pass on culture and so you will just have to work twice as hard. He will see the world through the lenses you give him.

Babies can have a variety of skin colors when they are born. A baby's skin color can change over time and should settle fully at around 20 months old. Due to the nature of genetics, a baby may look more like one parent than the other, or may not look like either.
Black babies and other babies of color may have sensitive skin that's prone to dark spots (hyperpigmentation). At birth, your baby's skin is likely to be a shade or two lighter than their eventual skin color. The skin will darken and reach its natural color in the first two to three weeks.
Your baby's skin color is determined by the genes passed on from you and your partner. Skin color is what is called a polygenic trait, meaning that it depends on more than one gene. Genetics determine melanin, which in turn decides your baby's natural complexion. The more melanin, the darker the complexion.
A study found that many babies (both male and female) had darker hair for the first six months of life, and lighter hair between 9 months and 30 months of age. Then, after the age of 3, the subjects' hair became progressively darker until they turned 5.
The skin can adapt melanin production to sunlight exposure. So if your baby is exposed to sunlight regularly, his skin will get darker, and if he hardly gets any direct sunlight for long, he might appear fairer. But he will never get fairer than his natural skin colour, which sets in soon after birth.
At birth, your baby's eyes may appear gray or blue due to a lack of pigment. Once exposed to light, the eye color will most likely start to change to blue, green, hazel, or brown over a period of six months to one year.
A wide variety of hair textures can appear in people of dual heritage. In some cases, people have multiple curl patterns. One study even showed that it is not uncommon for a person to have both straight and very curly hair.
